The present work involves Norwegian rock ilmenite which has been used as bed material during combustion of wood chips in the Chalmers campus 12-MW th biomass-fired Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) boiler. The aim was to investigate leaching of potassium from ilmenite samples extracted directly from the boiler during operation.

The rock nelsonite containing ilmenite and apatite was first identified in this area as early as 1890. Although some ilmenite-rich ore samples were mined and processed in Richmond, and there are records of subsequent mineral prospecting in the area, the site was abandoned and no further mining occurred (Watson and Taber, 1913).

The ilmenite beneficiation process is relatively complex, ... The crushing process involves the rock ores rough crushing, which usually uses jaw crushers or cone crushers. These machines have their advantages. Let's take the jaw crusher as an example. The vibrating feeder transports the large rock ore uniformly to the feeding port of the jaw ...

In the Becher process, ilmenite concentrate containing 55%-65% TiO 2 (the rest is mainly iron oxide) is fed to a rotary kiln to reduce the iron oxide to metallic iron. Ilmenite grains are converted to porous synthetic rutile grains with metallic iron and other impurity inclusions. The iron is precipitated as hydrated iron oxide from the ...

hydrothermal treatment of ilmenite has been carried out with the appropriate alkali solution at a temperature of 393 K, and the obtained ilmenite paste is subjected to acid leaching during the second stage. The obtained product is used as a U(VI) sorbent. The authors during processing ilmenite of the Rosetta coast (Egypt) used a fusion reaction ...

The common process involved in ilmenite alteration is the hydration and conversion of ilmenite into pseudorutile, with a Ti/(Ti + Fe) ratio between 0.5 and 0.6 due to iron leaching. The observed Ti/(Ti + Fe) ratio for the ilmenites of São José do Norte shows that most of the data are within the range of 0.50–0.65.
