Abstract Addition of small amounts of calcium and magnesium chlorides to the sinter charge of siderite iron ore, to minimise the percentages of harmful elements such as Pb, Zn, Cu, Sb and As was successfully performed. Remarkable removal of these elements was achieved during sintering. The produced sinter acquired good physical characters, like Iso tumbler index.
